The Dandy Horse, invented in 1817 by German baron Karl Drais is a human-powered, foot-propelled vehicle and is regarded as the first bicycle. As the earliest transport to use the two-wheeled principle, it marked the beginning of mechanized personal transportation.

Unlike later bicycles, it was powered by the rider pushing their feet against the ground instead of using pedals.

Regarded as the first bicycle in the world.

It was invented by the German baron Karl Drais in 1817; it did not feature any pedals, as it was a foot-propelled vehicle.

It represented the beginning of mechanized personal transportation.

What are all these certifications actually mean? Well..

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard):

  • prohibits the use of toxic chemicals, such as heavy metals and any substances known to be harmful to human health or to the environment

  • requires the use of organic fibres sourced from certified organic farming, ensuring that no harmful synthetic pesticides or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are used

  • prohibits various forms of forced labour, such as servitude, bonded, trafficked or indentured labour

  • strictly prohibits child labour and protects young workers

  • promotes a workplace free from discrimination, violence and harassment

  • requires that wages for regular working hours at least meet national legal standards or industry benchmarks, whichever is higher
